The Otahuhu community has a powerful dynamo leading their business association and a supportive local board, but the Auckland Council group is failing this community at some basic levels.
Although regional plans for the Otahuhu bus rail interchange are progressing, a walk around the streets with the Business Association Manager shows street gardens untendered, broken pavement, missing guttering etc etc.
What’s the point in spending $25m on a new interchange 2 kilometres from the town centre, if we can’t take of core council business. Auckland’s growth planning needs to be more balanced, and councils core operations better focused.
