There was a tonne of great insights and conversations at the recent World Cities Summit in Singapore. The Spinoff has published my article on some of the key developments cities could pick up from it. Of course there is a smart city element to some of this, but there’s a lot more besides.
130 cities were there, but more missed out. New Zealand’s capital city mayor Justin Lester was the only local or central government representative. Not every city or government can afford to send their Mayor or Cities Minister or CEO to events like this, but all bigger cities need to be engaged. And governments should use their international networks to stay on top of the developments.
The World Cities Summit only take place once every two years, run by the Singapore’s Centre for Liveable Cities.
I hope you enjoy reading about some of the exciting developments taking place around the world, and let me know if I’ve missed some!
