Phil Goff’s claim that he’s an independent candidate for the Auckland mayoralty was shown to be untrue this week when he launched Labour’s south Auckland campaign for Auckland Council.
It’s clear from taking such a high profile role in this launch and from his repeated criticism of the Government at the many mayoral candidates debates we have had, that if Aucklanders elect Goff as mayor we’ll have another leader of the opposition in charge of Auckland Council.
This would set Auckland back. The poor relationship Len Brown’s council has had, has delayed our transport and housing progress.
Auckland’s new mayor needs to work constructively and collaboratively with whoever the government it.
I have been involved in National party campaigns but I was in student political campaigns with both Andrew Little and Grant Robertson.
I’ll champion all of Auckland’s interests as the new mayor – not just one political view.
